I think the auxillary accellerator pump vacuum tube goes to #1 intake port. If the diaphram in the AAP goes bad, you will get raw gas into #1 that will cause missfire and poor fuel economy.
Check that vacuum line and see if gas comes out of it. If it does, the diaphram on the carb is bad.
