koni yellow cartridge install tool

I was just wondering what everyone who has koni yellows used to screw on the top retaining nut they come with. it only has 2 holes in it...



to install mine I used a set of needle nose plyers, but now I have to unscrew it to install my ground controls and I can't get it out...

short of making something like this:


anyone have any ideas?

You can probably just make one that is sufficient out of some steel bar stock and some bolts. Just bolt a short section onto a long section making a lower case "y" shape instead of a capital "Y". Be sure to wrap the strut shaft near the nut. Last thing you want to do is slip off nicking that portion.

hopefully it'll do the job, I'm not sure if it's wide enough.

Ahh yea, I have one of those. I use it for my angle grinder. I wonder if it is long enough to get sufficient torque.

ok, ground control install is complete

the pin wrench didn't work... it was juuuust to narrow, but a giant set of channel locks I picked up from crazy rays worked fine

i would recheck that gland nut after some hard driving. i didnt have a tool, so i put it in a vice and turn it with a bar as tight as i could. i checked it again after some hard driving and the shaft had play since the nut loosened up.
