Question I want to but this but should I?

Hello everyone, Im new here so just getting used to this forum.

So heres the scoop I have the option to buy an '88 corolla gt-s for $650 with 205,000 miles.
I don't know anything about toyotas and know little about these corrollas like the gt-s. I have heard the 4a ge is hard to kill so the mileage doesn't exactly discourage me.

Anyway do you think its a good deal just to fix up and sell? would it be ok for a 16 year old? What are some things to look for? (parts that fail on these cars). I feel a little naive about the whole thing.

Heres the ad:http://www.autofind.com/dealer/detai...E98C9J3107047/

How does it run? do the headlamps and motors work? body looks good, if it runs and drives good, its not a bad deal for $650.00. I remember when they came out, and I liked them then, and still do.

Sincei its in MN, I'd also check for rust, etc. Weather may have done something to the under carriage.

my ae92 has 220,000 miles and my engine still has 185-190 compression on all 4 cylinders. i might just repace all the seals and check bearing clearence. its still hit or miss with any car over 200,000 miles.
