1989 corolla stick 2wd - no start

Greetings

I took the battery, lights, turn sigs, and fender off to do major painting and body changes. I needed to move it and put the battery in , but it will not turn the engine. Attempted to bump start, but not a pop, putt or peep! I suspected the clutch pedal switch went out , but believe it should have bump started.

Haven't put the starter jump as the car should have bump started. Battery is good with a full charge and there is power to the accessories.

Anyone seen/ fixed this problem?

WW

Exactly what happens when you turn the key with the battery hooked up? Any clicks or the spinning of a starter?

Greetings

No, no sounds from the starter assembly/ crcuit. Also checked the kick panel fuse box, all is ok there.

I did hear a faint click yesterday emitting from the clutch pedal relay switch- green in color. I played with the pedal plunger for that assembly- pressing it in and out to make a contact. I assumed by the click from this item, power was ok in the key assembly, but maybe not.

Is there a way to bypass that pedal switch so as to eliminate it from the start circuit?

WW

Did you clean the battery terminals and clamps with a wire brush? The slightest bit of corrosion will give you a no start. Did you try jump starting with another vehicle?

It was the starter - absent the normal starter symptoms.
