sr5 4age engine swap cost and parts

I bought a 89 corolla sr5 and after a long 3 months of constant research I have narrowed down my options of working on this car. First I thought i could work on the 4af engine and everyone seems to think that is a bad idea. so after pricing everything i am now pricing the cost of a 4age engine and everything i will need. I want to make it a non stock engine but how much am i looking at? This is a senior project and so i have a whole year to do this. I also want to know if I should put a 16v or a 20v and where can i buy those. Then maybe if anyone has any experience, what performance parts work and which ones are not really worth my time. Also if you have any other comments about the process or the whole swap in general. Also if you have a plug and play harness or any parts send me a message.

Thanks you all very much

No its not necessarily a bad idea, you can get roughly around 150hp with "relative ease" out of a 4A-F. Putting a 4A-GE into a 4A-F engined car isnt as easy as some people make it out to be, there is no such thing as "plug and play", only plug and play is the fact that the 4A-GE fits into the engine bay of the AE92 directly.

A plug-n-play harness is going to cost you about $400 or more from pheonixtuning.com

Thats if you get an engine with a complete harness, then you need to send them your old harness and the new engine harness.

If you get an engine with a cut harness the price could run over $600.

Yeah, the money starts piling up real fast. Thats why I discarded the 20V project that I was thinking about. 800bucks for a ST engine, overhauling it (as the history is unknown), fuel system, wiring (I'd do it myself, but even wires and connectors cost), exhaust work as alot of them dont come with a manifold atleast over here, then theres the clutch issue to get it mounted to the C52 tranny I have on my 4A-F.

So I'll just stick a bigger turbo on my 4A-F, redo the downpipe and get Megajolt with EDIS ignition.. I'll have enough power that way and if needed I'll just get some gze pistons.
