?'s on ae92 rear disc conversion

ok so i got a set of rear disc brake conversion form a fx16 gts and so i bolted everything up, now i have a questions, for some reason i looked up and the fx16 has same rear strut as ae92 and i used the ae101 shocks and spring combo(cheaper) and my stock drum brakes bolted up fine with the ae101 struts, now heres a kicker, the fx16 hub in the rear where it bolts up to the strut, only one hole fits and the other doesnt? now my question is, how come when i looked it said same part number from fx16 and ae92 sedan for rear struts? and why doesnt it fit? i also want to know if is it safe to run only one bolted in? or should i just take them off? everything was easy to install, and then when i noticed that only one bolt was going to go through the strut to hub it was dumbfounded, i retightened the bolts back together, and pushed in the tires so it doesnt butterfly to the top anymore so the tires wont scrap the struts(first time tightened it while jacked, second time tightened it while sitting on the ground) but im still concerned about having only one bolt on the strut to rear disc hub... is there a reason why there is two holes there? someone out there with the answers please get back to me... just dont want to wreck the corolla...

I wouldn't drive it with one bolt in. If you reaaaaaly need to drive it, at least find a smaller bolt that will fit through.

How much bigger is the bolt than the hole? Can you tap on it to get it in? Can you fit both bolts through the strut with out the hub and can you fit both bolts through the hub without the struts? I'm just trying to get a picture in my mind of which holes are too small.

ok sorry for lame pic i drew it in like 3mins on my laptop(i hate not having a mouse) but the red arrow shows where the bolt is in, but the yellow arrow is showing that the top hole doesnt match... when the top hole both meet i have about the top of the hub and the bottome of the stut hole meets in about 1-2mm together like a eye stigmatism like shape kinda football... but everything esle bolted in, like the 2 arms from the sub frame, and the other side arm but thats the only problem i have about the conversion.. is just that the top holes doesnt match, when i changed to bolt the top holes, the bottom doesnt match, but when i do the top ones it makes the strut/shocks rest rite on the rear allightnment(idk what its called like a panbar) bar.

alright i had the same problem but fixed it, when u look on your rear hub where the holes on the hub there are grooves tha prevent the hole from meeting up so all you have to do is dremel out the part, it looks like a arrow tip and u jus need to smooth it out with a dremel because if u ride it with one bolt it will make ur wheel go negative chamber and eat ur tires up in 15 min... i tried it lolz

I got lost on your first post... you're using ae92 or ae101 struts in the rear?

Heh, the drawings are pretty good given the circumstances. It reminds me of the cartoon "Home movies".

So is this a confirmation that AE101 strut bolt spacing is different than AE92 strut bolt spacing? Ayang, would you mind giving us measurements of AE101 rear strut holes and the AE82 hub/spindle holes? Basically, I want to know which spacing is the oddball compared to the AE92s.

LoL! thanks for the compliment on the drawings.

but yeah forsure, ima do all the measurements and post them up tomorrow, the ae101 strut and spring combo works, just need to use the whole strut+spring+tophats in front and for the rear use the ae101 strut+spring use stock ae92 rear tophats to install it(rides smooth and awhole lot stiffer) also the ae101 struts are cheaper on ebay paid $300 for dropzone strut(short stroke) and 2' drop springs with lifetime warranty on them. also i want to buy a 93 corolla 4afe header offa ebay too for $60 it seems to be bolted up just fine and it had the hole to screw in the o2 sensor and its not any bigger, so it was a straight bolt on(7afe is longer by a inch or sumthing from what i read) heard from a guy from my brother job, he said he did it on his girlfriends car since the stock headers crack and are like $70 to replace but yeah i spent alot of time gathering info and reading alot of cross references in parts books etc(autozone and kragen guy must hate me by now) but it was weird when i was asking for cross references it showed me that ae82 and ae92 share the same rear strut, but surely that was a mistake since the ae92 and ae101 struts bolted up to my drum brakes like they were a match made in heaven. so when i decided to bolt on the rear gts rearend from the ae82 it was how do you say smaller from the lenth of the strut mounting holes from each other. wondering now if the ae92 gts catback exhaust is the same now too, maybe ill try and find someone with a ae92 gts and see but oh wells back to the topic, ill take measurements and pictures and post them up tomorrow once i go buy a dremmel etc and mod the struts ill have before and after pics. atm i am working on a write up on how to do a ae92 rear disc brake conversion since i cant find any out there before i did it, just asked alot of questions and TN has been very helpful. again thanks for your time everyone.

Yea, ok I just looked it up on rockauto and its weird. Some brands show the same number and others show that there are different part numbers for the AE82 and AE92.

So henceforth, this should be noted that AE82 rear disc brakes will not be a "bolt on" mod for the AE92.
