Talking Help with different models

I joined this forum after I bought my Sequoia and had a few problems and since I got the corolla wagon being here in this part of the forum has really gotten me interested in corollas.
So I have a noob question
What do the different model numbers mean?
AE92 101 etc
and for what years do they refer to?
I might actually buy another one as a daily driver so what models/years are good.

I really appreciate all the help i got here and everyone seems a lot more friendly than most forums.

Again thanks for the help guys
Dean

Looks like kwint made a slight typo, lol. AE92 = 1988-1992

Hi Dean,

Those numbers are chassis codes. Every Toyota has a unique one.

Thank you that clears it up now, they are chassis codes that make total sense.

thats funny because i once was at a corolla meet in riverside, and we were talking about that, chasis code AE86 means sr5 and AE88 means GTS so be warry of the chasis codes if any only when you go looking to purchase a ae86 gts. there are lots out there that is converter but very few will convert them rite....

Well, I was merely referring to an AE82 which was also dubbed "corolla" and sold alongside AE86s and maybe AE92s. (Too lazy to look up)
