Wheel Bearings

1988 Toyota Corolla 4AF- Automatic/
I am going to replace the cv joints on the car,
How are the wheel bearings in knuckle? Is pressed in?
Is this a sealed bearing?
On some cars I have done there was 4 bolts holding a cover to the knuckle after removing them, bearing was inside. Is there seals? On the wheel bearing?
any diagrams?
Thanks

Shoudn't need to touch the bearing at all it if you're just doing the CV joints...

Undo the center nut on the axle/CV, undo 2 nuts and 1 bolt on the bottom of the hub, pop the steering ball joint of the hub, then you should be able to swing the whole assembly out of the way to remove the CV joint.

Then once it's done just slot it back in and do everything up. I have 1 pic of when I changed my hub, see what you can do with it.

Unlike i did, leave the 2 bolts in the bottom of strut in place.

No camera sorry, that's an old pic... But the bearings (from what I know) are pressed in, pain in the behind to replace, I use second hand hubs, but that's cause I have heaps lying around. Anyone else know anything?

Actually, I've got one that's split apart, I'll try to figure out how it works, (never actually looked)

i just did the cv axle in my gts, if i remember right it is pressed in there. im sure that the sedans and coupes have a similiar design. in alot of cases depending on whether or not you have access to a press its easier to buy a new hub assembly. sometimes the hubs arent too expensive i think for yours i saw them on ebay for like 30 dollars
