Auto trans

I have 1988 Toyota Corolla, with a 4AF,
The Automatic transaxle is a 3 speed..
I was wondering how hard would be to swap a manual trans in?
What years would a trans fit? how about 1993?

I know I have to put a flywheel, a pressure plate,
How the linkage? is hyraulic or does it have cables?

I'm thinking of doing my '91 also... It's a shift-cable and that sounded like the hardest part of the job. I researched it and it isn't supposed to be too bad, except routing that cable between all the other stuff and the body...

I looked and couldn't figure-out where the clutch slave-cylinder goes on the firewall, but people said it was pretty easy (that part).

Good luck, I'm sure it'll make a way nicer car out of these (I hate my auto). I think you need '88 to '92 but I'm not sure...

Clutch slave cylinder goes to the gearbox, its mounted between the gearbox and engine roughly speaking. Clutch MAIN cylinder is mounted to the firewall.

I was looking into that swap.
I think the hardest part will be drilling the holes for the clutch master cylinder correctly.
The shifter cables will be a tedious job, and will require disassembly of the lower dash and console, and removing the ECU, but not difficult.

Imho those would be the easier parts... getting the clutch pedal mounted so that it works correctly would be worse.... Pedalbox time?

The clutch pedal bolts straight to the master cylinder.
As long as those holes are correct, the pedal should be no problem.
I think there are dimples where the holes should go (someone else said some time before) but having not actually done it myself I can't say for sure.
I do believe that you will probably need to use a 90 degree drill to get into the area because of limited space.
