92 Corolla - Brake light issue, need parts, and info. Please Help!

Car: 92 Corolla

Current issue that is driving me nuts.

Issue 1:

When the headlights are ON, the back right brake light will turn off completely when the brake peddle is pressed. If the brake peddle is not pressed the light functions normally.

The back left brake light works normal.

If the head lights are not on the back right brake light functions normally.

Issue 2:

When I try to feather the gas peddle it causes the car to buck at low speeds.

Example: I will take off in 1st gear and the rpms build up normally but if I left off the gas peddle the car will buck if I don't follow that with pushing in the clutch.

While accelerating and switching to 2nd gear the rpms build normally. Then the car sounds like it hits 'vtec' and takes off. This is after the acceleration pauses for a brief moment (1 to 2 seconds).

After the car has been driven for a few miles this usually subsides, but it's still there just not as bad.

I'm thinking try new spark plugs, maybe a new fuel filter?

Issue 3:

Power steering pump is squealing when ever I back up, or make a really hard turn left or right.

Is the belt loose? Slipping?

Parts:

I'm searching for the weather stripping for the front left drives door. The thief that stole the stock radio and ripped off every door handle managed to rip the weather stripping off the door. So when I drive the window dings against the metal, making for a loud ride.

Thanks for much for any help,

The power steering belt is probably loose. Press down on belt it shouldn't deflect much. Try readjusting it. Also check fluid level to make sure it isn't low. For weatherstrip only sources I know of would be junkyard (if they would sell separately) or dealer. Your issues when shifting could be ignition related so new plugs would be a cheap thing to try. For brake lights check out this post and read where they talk about repairing the ground at light. Probably your problem too.

Issue 1: Common with my taillights. Because of age and heat build-up from the wires, they usually melt wire insulations. When this happens, now you have short circuits that may not blow the fuse but cause your current problem. You can either do a re-wiring yourself (only at the bulb panel of both taillights) or get one from the junkyard that is still in tact.

Hell, my third brake light, the damn light bulb melted the red lens.

Issue 2: It can be a retarded timing or excessive fuel. I would try to do a re-timing first since it's the cheapest (free if you do it yourself).

Issue 3: If it squeals, check the belt. Nice method I use, on any belt, the part of the belt that is longest between two pulleys should not deflect more than half an inch. Just take a finger (while the car is off), press down on the center of the belt in the spot said. If you're able to push it down, with not much power, more than a half-inch, it's loose.

Part: Best bet is the junkyards. You can try RockAuto.com, sometimes eBay. They may have it. Sorry about the break-in, my corolla got broken into twice. Next time, I'll make sure to rig my car with explosives for an alarm. I hate those bastards.

Lights are probably caused by bad ground. I had the same problem in my '84 Celica and found that the ground from the light to the body had come loose.
