Can 185/70/R13s fit on a 1992 Toyota Corolla?

I was shopping for some 175/70/R13s for my car (1992 Corolla Sedan).

But doing a tire size calculation, my speedometer wouldn't be too far off if I put 185/70/R13s on there instead.

And get this, the 185s are about $10 cheaper per tire than the 175s. That's right, get more tire... pay less money!

So, before I go off and make an appointment for the 185s, can that size fit on the stock 13" wheels?

By the way, Firestone is supposed to be having a huge sale on Nov 14 this year. Give them a call.

I dont understand why you would ever want a 70 series tire on your car. So much tire flex. I'll stick to my 195/50/15's :p

it's the stock size :-P some people can't afford new wheels... or just don't care enough.

that being said, I think 175/70/13 are a safety hazard.

My All-Trac's glovebox recommends using 185 70 13 tires on the stock 13" rims.

I wanted to give everyone the update. I had the tires changed this morning and the 185/70/R13s fit just fine on the stock 13s. I got a good deal ($242 out the door for FR380s) and life is good.

I love this car. 254,000 miles on it and other than maintenance stuff it has never had a problem. And it still gets 37 mpg on the freeway.

The more I think about my wagon, the more I think I will keep it for as long as it holds together! I can always get a new engine to throw in there...

Damn 13's are the stock size? hah thats crazy. 14's are stock on my car and I still thought that was too small for a GTS being a little more performance oriented.

Yeah, I think 13's are the stock rims size for the sedans and wagons (including All-Tracs / 4WD). I have one of the original 13's as a spare in my All-Trac, from whoever decided to replace all of the wheels with 15's.
