4AFTE should i retire her? LOLz Next Battle Strategy
SO....
its finally about that time...
for those of u who don't know me i have been running a stock 4afe (1st gen) as high as 13psi with no problems what so ever... for over 2 years
here is my dilemma, im way past what this motor is capable of and although it runs perfectly with no issues i can't help but watch the clock tick and wait for a big KABOOOM...
The car is a ton of fun to drive but with stock electronics (no tune) and open diff.. well u know the rest
I've been buying and selling corollas like hot-cakes last 2 years and currently i have a really cherry shell (90 auto), a 5spd cold AC, an aw11 mr2 (85) then the track car.
I'm DD'ing the aw11 cuz my moms been using my other rolla so i need to make a decision as to what to do...
my track car isn't really DD'able anymore it has open turbo open DP, Chromoly welded custom cage, lexan windows, vinyl shit blah blah blah.
i've had my eyes on a GTZ half-cut for a while now that i really really want. its RHD and everything is in good shape i even toyed with the idea of converting rolla to RHD GTZ levin...
So is it worth my time swaping my 4afe and 5spd to the shell, so i have a working rolla? or start MS on the aw11? idk so many ideas floating around...

rydzz were u talking about MS'ing the mr2? we will see im still regaining faith in that company...
i myself would also like to play with megasquirt too. so far i've read up mostly good things and it seems easy enough to setup. what do you mean by regaining faith in them?

If you dont mind me asking could you give me the specs on your wheel and tire setup rim size and offset, tire size, brand of rims, and also suspenson equipment i love the stance of yours its amazing
Just put the 7A-FE into the "auto, shell" car and use that as a DD, then you can do whatever with the track car.

i don't feel like pulling a 7afe harness/ecu from a junkyard... i only have a longblock.
and its been sitting for probably a few years...
i think its a waste of a good block/crank. my 4afte is still somehow in great shape (burns 0 oil)
so i just need to get another 4afe flywheel if i cant find my old one. so i can safe chromoly one for 7agte whoot whoot.
I may actually be jumping on that half-cut. but I've been advised to get it installed as quickly as possible to "test" warranty and make sure motor is good to go.
I've been looking into something a bit more track oriented lately.
the rims are on the MR2 currently since its DD atm.
215/45-16 on 8" wide Rota RB +20offset 5mm spacers rear
i have Ksports on both cars.
corolla has whiteline F-bar and Gts R-bar
i don't have any other trans to use but the one mated now.
so i think i will use the whole "factory" swap and try to get red corolla working. hopefully it will pay off. im gonna have lots of turbo parts laying around.hmmm
