at the gounds... you just wire all the grounds to the negative battery terminal.

When I do a ground wire set, I usually do the following:

block->body
head->body
tranny->body
battery->body

Yeah and when you take a look, you'll notice your engine is already grounded with a thick wire from the transmission block to the negative terminal and its goes via the body. You really dont need to add any grounds onto the head/transmisson/block/etc, its just one big contact to begin with.

Help in what? Unless theres a significant resistance, which there isnt, because the car body is one huge conductor, then there really isnt much enhancement.
