No solder!

When you pull the console off, the lightbulb socket only requires a 90-deg counter-clockwise turn and it should simply pull out. And the bulb should slide out of the socket, small little peanut bulb.

ah ok. I just took the one out my car. I never changed the bulb by itself, did the whole socket I got from the junkyard. Yea, the bulb is solder in there. I'll post up a pic in a few seconds. I just pulled my out my car to see. I was able to remove the bulb.

EDIT

You'll see the tabs on the socket. One on each side, use something flat enough, or even a needle to pry them up a bit. They basically lock in the two legs you see on the peanut bulb that I'm holding.

In this case, you may have to jimmy-rig the shit. You'll be able to find the small peanut bulbs, but I never found one with loose ends like this one. either that or go to a junkyard and pull one, which is what I did.

Would this work as a replacement? You might need some heat shrink tubing on the leads if the bulb fits down inside the plastic mount to keep leads separated to prevent shorting out.
