Gen6 gas light won't turn off -_-

ok so i just changed my gauges with leds i pulled out the plug for the gas light and plugged it back in then the halogen bulb wouldn't light up. i tried replacing it with a brand new halogen bulb but no luck. then i tried my extra led bulb and it work but it won't turn off when i start the car. i have about 1/4 of gas left so i know it shouldn't be on. i just recently changed the battery also.:head bang::head bang:

so what's the question? lol

you may have a bad sending unit in the tank and it's just a coincidence... or you messed up the connector.

Try gassing up over a 1/4 and see what happens before you get too involved in troubleshooting. If you are parked on an incline even at 1/4 the light could be triggered. Or try using the OE bulb and see if it acts the same. Also your gas guage may not be that accurate and you are actually below 1/4 tank.

well i did fill up but it still stayed on. also you know when you have the key in the on position all the gauge lights turn on. my gas light with a oem bulb won't turn on but with the led bulb it turns on but it stay on even when i start the car.

I don't know the particulars of the LED bulb, but if gas light works properly with OE bulb the cheapest alternative would be to put it back and be done with it. I did an LED switchover on the illumination of the light switch of my Ranger. Worked great for awhile and then started flickering. It got pulled and back in with the OE bulb.

I'm having the same issue with an LED for my low gas alert in the LE cluster I swapped into my wagon. I have about 3/4 a tank of gas, so it should be off... I tried moving the needle way down low, then allowed the needle to move itself back to where it should be (I really hope that didn't hurt anything.....). Light stayed on.

I'm thinking it could be polarity of the LED, in other words switch it around in the socket opposite of how it sits right now (most of these LEDs are polarized, they have to be one way in the sockets). If that doesn't work, I'm going to pop the #158 incandescent bulb back into the socket... if it STILL stays on, I'm yanking it altogether I've gotten along just fine without low gas alerts on my del Sol and this wagon before the cluster swap.
