Car Audio. Amp/subwoofers

Hey everyone, I am about to install an amplifier and subwoofer into my corolla. I found diagrams on how to wire it all up but i may need some help with a few things such as whats the best hole to go through the firewall with the power cord and where to put the ground for the amplifier from inside the trunk area.

also if anyone has done this and know wheres the best spot to put the power block, amp location and capacitor. Where to drill a mounting brace for the sub box, that would be awesome.

I think there should be a sticky thread for a good explanation on this subject

There really isn't a good mounting place in the trunk area. Ive always mounted everything to the sub box.

I have my power cable going through the hole in the firewall where the wiring harness goes through, then run it along the side of the car under the driver and rear driver side door sills then into the trunk behind rear seats.

You can get good ground anywhere in the trunk...

If I remember right, I used one of the seat brackets as a ground. Just sand down a little but where the bolt goes in and bolt it to that. And for the power I think I did what the guy did above, except I might of went through where the throttle cable goes through, and just cut a little hole.

well my trunk release stopped working when it started to get a bit cold outisde so i've been trying to figure out what was the problem, tried pulling on the cables nothing, tried playing with the key mechanism but now it broke and fell off.

I dont think any of its worth fixing and i was looking at getting a car alarm/starter/door and trunk unlock anyways. Should i just grab one of these and get it installed or will i need to replace the key cylinder and cable as well?

i have no idea how the electrical trunk release works does it use the mechanism? or can i just cover the hole where the key cylinder goes.

- I have a precision amp and 2 direct audio 12" subs.
