Bad rear strut ??

This is my first car with struts. I think a rear went bad today. I was driving on a rutted snow covered road and when I got to the clear main roads it felt like I had a square rear tire. Every little bump feels like a kick in that corner of the car.

How do you tell if a strut is bad? Shouldn't it bounce like a bad shock absorber when you push down on the car?

Technically a Shock is the same thing as a Strut. The only difference is that instead of the spring and shocks being seperate from each other, the shock is Inside of the spring in a "strut housing".

Sometimes the shock is removable like the front of a GTS, and sometimes it needs to be replaced as a whole like the rear of a GTS. But almost always the spring is removable.

And... first I would start by checking and making sure all of your tires are inflated correctly and all at the same PSI. And sometimes it's hard to tell by looking, but use a flash light and look in there, see if you see any hydraulic fluid leaking from the shocks, or try the push down test and see if your rear end stays stiff and doesnt bounce more then once when you really try to bounce it. It's possible it coulda blown out, or maybe already was on its way. If you do replace it, do both rears at the same time rather then just one.

Hope all that helps.
