Just Call Me Darth, 'Cause I'm Going To The Dark Side.

So I've officially ditched the rolla. It was costing WAAAAAAY too much to keep on the road...

I have, however, gone to the next thing down, a Datsun Sunny it's been rebuilt to a mild race spec (just needs more agressive cam if I wanted more power)

Anyways, sorry to let everyone down lol... Will buy a 2ZZ-GE powered rocket in a few years time... I will never give up on Toyota!!!!

The engine is of race caliber... Almost... All it needs is another cam, but as it's a daily driver, that wouldn't be too good for traffic work, it's had heaps of work done to the suspension, it handles like it's on rails, cross drilled brakes, no cage, it's been pretty much rebuilt from the ground up, I trust his work (he's like family) and he's an aeronautics engineer, figured if he can build a plane, he can build a 1981 Datsun Sunny lol.

But now he is building another Sunny (hence selling the first one), but with an RB20DET in it, that's all caged, hilux diff, 4 link'd etc.

And, the Corolla, being a diesel in New Zealand, was costing me too much on licencing and road user charges, plus insurance, she was cheaper than chips on gas, but that's all.
Another mate of mine has now got her.... While he builds up his Datsun lol.

Ewwwwww, don't even degrade me like that lol... It's not loud, it does have ol' skool low-back seats, and ZERO lights underneath!

P.S, it's NOTHING like that sack of sh*t in the video, my one's older and cooler lol... Can't seem to post a pic, stupid laptop. It's a B310 model.

The first time I sold my 87 supercharged MR2 and aeronatics engineer bought it.... within a few months I bought it back because he never drove it... it had 1 small problem that he couldn't figure out to fix (or to call me and have me help him).... he attempted and made it WAY worse.... he also removed my crappy fiberglass engine lid cover for an even uglier, gaudier heavier, plastic piece that looked like it belonged on a plane.

One small difference. He's not retarded. Between him (who is like my brother, known him for 20 years) and the guy that's only been building Datsuns for 50 odd years (who is also my neighbour) I'm pretty freakin' sure they ain't gonna f**k me over lol.

Did he install a wing that would put a cessna to shame?

the engine lid cover he put on it might count as a wing.....

he cut the backside off of it because it didn't clear the glass..... and if the cover is on, you can't open the engine bay more than about 8"....

and I was just making a statement that aeronautics engineer does not equal great car mechanic.... just like A <> B.

That is horrible lol, I don't ever like MR2's and that just sickens me.

And nah, doesn't mean they're great but I know his work and trust it.

Only had the car 24 hours now and f**kin' love it. Plus I sold the Rolla to a close mate so I can still drive it pretty much whenever I want... BONUS!

I just wanna say cheers to everyone for the help too, even if it wasn't directed at me, just flicking through some of the threads has helped heaps... I've learnt heaps of random stuff I'll probably never need, like how to check fault codes and why the damn cooling fans were stuck on lol... I still love Toyota and always will... When I've got more cash to throw around I'll do something cool, KE70 wagon or something (love RWD)
I'll keep checking in from time to time and help out where I can, the Rolla has done me well for my mechanical knowledge, so I guess that car was not a complete money-pit.

Anyways, cheers guys!
