Question Mystery connector near the alt? (4A-FE)

Anyone know what this goes to? I found this dangling in the engine bay earlier tonight as I was getting my IM ready for removal. It's part of the wiring harness that leads to the alternator and AC compressor. I had a look around, but can't seem to find what it connects to. Looks like a female single blade connector of some sort, and can reach down to the area of the AC comp. Or to the side...

That is a connector for a oil pressure sender.
I recognise it from my 4A-GE wich has that same wire on the oil sender.
But since the 4A-FE didn't come with a oil pressure sender, it's weird to see it on your car. My Corolla with 4A-FE doesn't have that wire in the harness

USDM 4A-FEs (and 4AFs) have pressure switches instead of the senders. it just turns on a "low pressure" light

Yes, my (EUDM) 4A-FE has a switch aswell...So there might be parts of the world where the 4A-GE got a sender too. Just never seen it before

Sorry man, but your mechanic is dead wrong about it, the transmission has its own wiring harness and it comes from the other side of the engine.

switch/sender, potato/potatoe ;P

LOL... OK thanks guys! I'll have another look behind the alt later today.

Makes sense that it's just an indicator if pressure is low, rather than a reading of the pressure (in numbers) since the 4A-FE is an economy engine.

has nothing to do with it.... Toyota was cheap and put a dummy light in the lower models.

anyone who said it isn't the oil pressure sending unit wire is stupid. Period.

Toyota is cheap and economical.... that connector is the same for both light-sensors and gauge-sensors.... even though the connectors for each are 100% different.... Toyota was smart and devised it to work on both styles.

photo #2 shows that it can take the Gauge style connector by sliding over the "T" connector.... the connector can also fit on a standard flat male connector, which is what the dummy lights take.

Its not about being an economy or performance engine. Its more in the lines of less clutter for the ordinary user, less spendures during building as an additional gauge costs, most people wont know what it means anyways, so just put a light there to give them peace of mind. etc etc...

I would agree with that except any sort of performance oriented engine of those years had a gauage... (not that I was saying due to economical engine.... I chose to say "lower models", lol)

I believe I found the sensor / switch that this connector attaches to. The end of it has a sort of T shape... so I just slide this connector down on that T, using the gap in the connector to slide over the post?

I'll have to clean this sensor first, though, as it's covered in oily sludge.
