carb, manifold, audio and hvac questions

alright so ive been slowly building this 88 rolla rwd wagon for a friend.

she digs the car alot but heres somethings im trying to sort out

1st question, oem replacement carb or weber 32/36 or knock off weber 34/34

car is a bit underpowered and the car could stand replaced, should i get oem or a weber, ive never ran a 32/36 weber but i had a solex weber 34/34 on a toyota truck ran great.

other thing i noticed is the 88-92 rolla exaust manifold is differnt than the 90-93 celica st manifold. can i use a 90-93 celica manifold on the wagon as long as i lenthen thw o2 wiring?

Next issue, rear speaker wiring on a fwd wagon where is it? it has no rear spekers and i have a good pair of 6x9s in a box i can just toss in there by either building a deck or a rear shelf

and last, the hvac control for the heat and a/c wont slide all the way to cold unless its forced very hard. Is there a way to fix this?

Different motors, will not work. Likely you have a 5SFE in the celica? The rolla is a 4AFE/ 4AF.

eage1 had a weber 32/36, I think it was. Had one for sale, not sure if he had sold it yet. But you have that option or do a motor swap for a 4AGE 20V or 4AGZE.

In my sedan, I did find that there were rear speaker wires running back there (FACTORY!) but the car never had rear speakers. So likely, the wires may be back there where factory speakers would go. I think right behind the C-pillar would the location... If not, you could always run the speaker wires yourself

As for the climate controls, they're all wire cables. I think you may be able to adjust them. You'll have to remove the dash portion and there should be 4 or 5 screws to remove the climate control to see the cables. Not too sure, haven't messed with anything for it yet but I've noticed it from times I took the dash face off.

well the 90-93 celica st had a 4afe and the manifold is more like a 421 design instead of 4-1 like the rolla

really not wanting to do another swap right now. Atm im swapping a 22rte into a 85 celica and replacing an engine in a toyota truck. She just wantted a lil more pep, not a powerhouse. She thinks my 94 celica wth a 7afe is fast.

ok ill look for the wires and as for the hvac ill see about it, i gotta take the dash apart soon anyway cause i found a minnt dashboard for 20 dollars and a rolla le cluster for 40 so ima swap those in

My opinion is that you find a weber 32/36, the oem replacement carb sucks and are a pain to replace. I havent gotten a carb kit yet but I plan on installing it right after im done with the pacesetter exhaust.

There might be holes back there and on some cars there is wiring running back there. If there isnt your are going to have to run your own wire back there which shouldnt be that hard. You can run it right under the trims and it will lead right to the back.
here is a thread that lets you know how to do it How-To install 6X9 speakers in the rear deck

so i know this is out there, but i used to have a 86 corolla rwd, it was sr5 and came with a 4ac carb. i wanted a little more kick so i just installed a set of motor cycle carbs, it made a better sound and a little more kick, and it was awesome to look at, kinda like ITBs and its a simple setup, all i did was get another throttle body from the junk yard for 20 bucks, and cut it, bought 4 silicone couplings and coupled them together, ran the fuel line in and here is the hard part, modding the throttle cable to fit the carb, but once you figured that out(i never did, but the guy at the machine shop did for $25 did.) and boom, it was awesome. then i swapped it out for a carbed 4ag with 99 yamaha R1 carbs, and ran it like for awhiles.

Hey

About the speaker wires, look for the area in another rolla with standard speakers and find out where they would be in your car. once you find that area they should be under that. E.g in my car all i had to do was pull the rear parcel tray cover off from behind the rear seats and all the cables were there. but mine is a sedan so it may differ from what you have.

I am also in the process of fitting a 32/36 DGAV to my 4AF corolla. don't bother with an oem replacement your not gonna see any more power from the standard motor. make sure you find the right adapter or manifold to fit with your engine, and also the right jetting the 32/36 that i have has 2L jets from a pinto motor so i will be running rich until i find the right jets.
