Gen6 I got a 1990 toyota corolla that needs more...

I have a 1990 toyota corolla LE that needs just a little more kick... everything is stock, I am planning on buying a cold air intake for it, but I dont think that would be enough of a kick... if anybody could give me a hand tellin me what else I could add, please, let me know... I am new to these forum stuff, so if anybody could help me out with my "Lamborghini" that would be great

Thanks for lookin'

First off: What's under the hood? A 4A-FE?

Keep it stock, drive it around without worries.

If you want power, keep the corolla stock and spend the money on a mustang and drive the corolla so you can freely mod the mustang.

Just my two cents, if I could do things differently... ;P

Welcome to the forums! Depending on what engine you've got, a cold air intake will be an improvement, but it won't give you much of a 'kick'. You could spend a lot of money on performance modifications, but you won't see any real gains. It would be more beneficial to do an engine swap (such as a 4A-GE transplant) or do a turbo conversion. Alternatively, do the basics, such as a slightly larger exhaust system, header, and intake, then spend the rest of your cash on suspension mods such as springs, shocks and swaybars

Wouldn't matter if your Corolla could do 0 - 60 MPH in 5.5 seconds in stock form like a Tundra V8 can, because you'd STILL be looking for that extra "kick". Check out the Tundra forum to see for yourself how every 16-30 year old owner of the 5.7 liter V8 is STILL looking for that extra "kick."

I heard a Bugatti Veyron owner was quoted saying the car was too "slow" from takeoff.

Yea, I know your pain. I had a 1992 three speed auto. Anything over 45 mph was always third gear unless I pulled it down. You will have to do an engine swap or get a car to build for the street. I have my Talon for that.

my only suggestion to you is, forget the engine mods, itll keep your at ease always(Toyota, moving you forward) just get rear disc brakes, better suspension and sway bars, and if you want a nice sound with a little more performance, buy a K&n filter to put in your air box. but yeah once you get your suspension pretty nice, youll always have a kick, even on faster cars, because you dont have to really brake for the corners just turn and keep on gasing, youll win trust me. =D
