need starter for rolla

I am in need of a new starter for my

1991 toyota corolla le, 4afe, automatic, made in japan, 4 door, efi no carb.

im looking at ones from autozone, oreillys, advanceauto etc.

now im having problems with not knowing which one i need, they have alot of different options etc by voltage etc.

so which one do i need?

........my problem is i just got a new battery and i just replaced my cap, rotor, plugs, wires, airfilter.... all calmed my idle down and smoothed out a rough idle and what not which is great! but in the morning, i have to hold my key on the 3rd click turn the engine over position.... and i have to wait close to a minute for it to even start the starter up...... its just complete silence then the starter starts her up..... ive read on numerous fourms about other makes models and what not that its always been the starter. i do not have the time nor a garage to replace parts of the starter so im going to just replace the whole thing at once, but some of them ask alot of different questions or just dont tell me which one i need. please help me. thanks in advance.

I believe it's denso, also, for OEM. I remember one time I bought a reman starter, it had said DENSO on it somewhere... could be the one in my car now...

Any auto part store will have your starter.

You have to pull the starter whether you replace it or replace the contacts inside it. Take it off the car and take inside to replace the contacts. The repair is exceedingly simple, inexpensive and absolutely the solution to the problem you are experiencing. It's the main cause of failure for these starters. The rebuilds out there are junk. If you replace the contacts in the existing one you will end up with one far more reliable.. Remove the contacts and go to your nearest Toy parts dept to size them up (there are various sizes for different starters).

Here is a link on starters at NAPA. IF you go the replacement route I would trust their's over the others out there. According to listings it's a different starter whether you have auto or manual. If you have AAA you can get a discount by showing your card. On the link below type in starter on search on left side.

I just replaced the contacts in my starter... replacing the contacts was far easier than actually removing the starter.

Intake manifold won't come off (4A-FE)

It would have been a much easier job had I not removed the intake manifold to get to the starter, but, whatever, it was easier to see at that point.

If you decide to replace the contacts like I did, I would order the type A contacts from that site that I linked to in my post ^ there. Well... if those are the type your starter has, which most likely they are. Good luck!
