Help - Front door stuck shut

I shut the driver door on my 91 corolla this morning and now it won't open. It is locked - and the lock will not release. I fear that the latch mechanism is jammed - as nothing seems to be grabbing. I'm afraid I will have to cut the door off and get a replacement. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You just remove the interior door panel. Remove the door handles and the window crank/ switches. Then yank off the panel, they're cardboard fibers or something. A lot easier and cheaper to replace than the whole door.

does the inside handle work?

I would guess that you broke the handle...

just replace the handle. the actual door itself has nothing to do with it opening, everything inside of it that moves it replaceable.
