alternator and p/s belt question??

hey all i wanted to try and replace my alternator belt and power steering belt this weekend as they are in VERY bad shape -.- but need some help. the alternator belt looks pretty straight forward; loosen adjusting bolt, slide alternator, then replace belt. right? but what about the power steering belt? how do i go about changing that?

also, does anyone have the part numbers for the belts? i looked on orielly's, and in the descriptions of the belts, im seeing "water pump TO power steering" and "water pump AND alternator." which one is the correct one??! lol.

car: '90 corolla sr5 stock 4afe

For power steering and alternator one bolt is topside the other is easier reached from the bottom. When I did mine I removed the plastic splash shield underneath car. With that out of the way you can see where it needs to be loosened and get to it with a socket wrench.. If you have a/c there should be a third belt. Both power steering and alternator belts go around pulley for water pump that's why water pump is listed in the description for both belts.

When i changed mine there was one bolt on the top of the powersteering pump similar to the one on the alt, i lossened that and was able to pull the pump and pulley towards me to lossen and remove the belt. never needed to get under the car.

Both the P/S pump and alternator have two bolts each. The bolt on top is the adjustable one. The bottom bolt on the bottom is just a pivot point. Even if the top bolt is loose, it shouldn't be loose until the bottom bolts are loosened... Not that it really matters if it doesn't move on you when the car is being driven... but just incase one bolt loosens, the other is still there to hold the P/S pump or alternator in place.

For the power steering pump, it's easier to get to the bottom bolt from the side when the right front wheel is off along with the cover. But it's quite accessible through the top.

You should replace all three belts instead of just those two.

A belt for the WATER PUMP/ POWER STEERING
Another belt for CRANKSHAFT PULLEY/A/C
And the last belt CRANKSHAFT PULLEY/ WATERPUMP/ ALTERNATOR
