Replacing Power Steering Pump?

Has anyone replaced their power steering pump? My Chilton's is roughly, remove pump install pump.

What exactly am i doing? Am I separating the pump body from the resv tank first? Or do I pull the lines, disconnect from bracket and yank it out? What do I use to get the main line off the valve body anyway? Weird looking bolt head deal.

Cool

If I remember right I rebuilt mine a few years back, spent $15.00 on the kit, nothing but O-Rings... fixed it... it stopped working when engine was cold..

car car now has 365,000 miles on it.

I pulled the pump, removing the lines first,, then the pulley, then removed the resivior... hard to remember everything, sept-by-step..

autozone has a tiny bit of info on r&r:

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/rep...00c1528006f670

if I remember right, one of the hoses was a real bich to remove, due to the location..

but, you must bleed the power steering system when you put it back on and fill it up...

make sure you clean the screen in the resivior..

if you need to remove the hose and then the steel line (to the rack), you might need a line wrench....

sorry If I can't telll you more... it was a few hours of work...
but then again,,, you just wanted to r&r.. not rebuild..
