Has a c60 ever been mated to a 20V silver top engine?
I'm thinking about it theoretically and because the cylinder blocks between the silver and black top are physically the same, the bell housing should bolt up... right?
-However, will the black top flywheel and clutch kit have to be used?
-can the bt fly even bolt up to the st crank?
here in ja some of the toyota levin/trueno bz-r was available with 6speed c60, so they are available, however, i'm not sure if the axles from that car can be used in a ae9* corolla.
sorry for the tons of questions. just trying to understand what will work from what wont.
Nope, C160 from a 4age blacktop. I have one Just not installed yet, which won't be until the motor is ready once fitted for and with boost.
Also, food for thought, some C160 6-speeds came with factory LSD. But it'll be hard to find one. It's hard to locate C160 by themselves as it is without having to buy it mated to a blacktop.
If you want a C160, I suggest you make yourself known to people who work on AE86's. Then ask around to see if anyone was planning to buy a 20V blacktop. If so, work with them to locate a blacktop with a C160. That way, you got your C160 and he got his Blacktop. AE86's are RWD, so the C160 or even the C52 are no use for AE86 owners. Practically that's how I got my C160.

Hey, send me a PM about where you got your c-160, I'm always in the market for one if you know someone local who has one and the price is right.

point noted.
i know the bt performs best when mated to the 6spd, but do any of the 5spd boxes come close?
the C52 and C56 are both nice transmissions. they both have nice short first and second gears. I'm not 100% sure about the final drives, but I think the C56 might be have a faster final drive. The C56 also has a faster 3rd and 4th gear.
the C160 has the same first gear and a slightly faster second and a slightly faster final drive it looks like (the second gear and final drive are why I want one... mainly for auto-x)
the car will accelerate faster, but you'll have to shift more and it doesn't seem like it revs any lower on the highway due to the only slightly longer 6th and a slightly shorter final drive... it ends up about the same.
I think the reason most people want one is just to have a 6 speed... not for any actual performance improvement.
PS. I'm currently running a C56 on my silvertop (stock on second gen silvertops and all 5-speed blacktops) and like it a lot. SCT can chime in, I gave him a ride the other day. It accelerates surprisingly well.

Yep, the acceleration is actually more than what I expected! Don't know why some people down the 20V. After taking that ridealong, I can't wait until my turbo 20v gets done. I even thought of scrapping the turbo and going N/A.... but I'm not going to do that. Still a turbo project Although I'll be sacrificing the maniacal sound that comes from the ITB with nice velocity stacks.
ok i dont want to sound lost, but the c52 and c56 trans that just like the ones that came in the ae92 gts and the sr5 also the sedans rite? im not the best at remebering or having knowledge in the transmission world, but id still like to learn about it. so i have a ae92 sedan would i be able to mate a 20v st/bt to my stock trans or am i going to have to install a 20v trans? id figured itll be the same due to them all kinda having the 4a block?
