I have just got an 88 corolla gts. It has blown head gasket. Possible cylider problems. It is in great condition inside and out besides it overheating. I am wanting to poss sell this car. Is there any collectors out there that might want this car, or can tell me what this car is worth? Im not sure if I should fix it up or buy a newer car. What does anyone think about it.
IMO, I say fix it. Still a reliable car. The blown headgasket would make it overheat, btw.
The car's not highly sought after like some RWD japanese car or something, a car that would be made a tuner or whatever. Although, the GTS is becoming harder to find. Like cars that are 40 year old and older now, maybe it'll join that rank when it gets that old.
Well here is the thing this car has a carb on it. I am wanting to put a diff motor in it. What kinds of motors will fit in this car? Was thinking maybe celica motor or something like that. Anyone know what will fit in it and wont cost me an arm and a leg, not that I need them or anything, lol.
Well I think its a GTS cause I googled all the 88 toyota corollas cars til I found one like mine and it said it was a GTS. It is stock carb, no mods on it at all.

Its hard to tell cause the pic I found on google is just like mine it said gts but ur pic looks like it 2 idk. what is the diff between the two?
there are a lot of small differences, but the main difference is SR5s have slower carbureted engines GT-Ss have fuel injected engines have have about 30 more hp

All parts from a GTS can be installed onto the SR5 since they're both the same car, except the GTS being a bit more hopped up in terms of having an fuel injected engine and a factory body kit which includes side skirts and a wing.
GTS also has rear disc breaks. Carb = SR5 either an 88 or 89 since after that they went with EFI on them. Given that it has the 4af and it has a blown head gasket it explains the over heating issues. Other things that can make it run rough is a bad carb or vacuum lines or fittings being damaged such as snapped off which was my cars issue with I parked it. So don't get stressed if it still runs a little rough after the head gasket issue is sorted. Other than that these cars can take a good beating and still be reliable. If you watch the oil and antifreeze in them they can even go months with a bad head head gasket and still run perfectly after you change it.
I would say the worth can vary, it depends on the condition of everything else other than the head gasket. If the body and interior is in great shape I'd say 1500 - 2000 but no more than that.
aNYONE KNOW WHAT YEARS AND WHAT KINDS OF ENGINES I CAN PUT IN THIS CAR THAT WILL FIT WITHOUT MAKING MODS. WANT TO START LOOKING AT JUNK YARDS FOR A USED MOTOR.
