Need 4x100>4x114.3 adapters, thinnest I could get is 25mm.
I took the driver side front wheel off. Held the Cressy steelie up to it, centered while the mounting surface of wheel is resting on tip of the studs which where the Cressy steelies will sit when adapters are on.
The center of the Cressy steelie sits fine, nicely flush with the side of the car. However, the wheel barrel itself sticks out about an inch to inch and a half.
Planning on rebarreling the steelies so they would go from +12mm offset to
+37mm, which is a full inch. But could add another 3mm to 7 mm before the edge of the outside wheel barrels go pass the furthest outside point of the wheel center. Pretty much, the rebarreling is just so the wheel barrels don't stick out, obviously.
Doing that would make the backspacing go from 4.25" to 5.25".
Considering the fact that I want a set of Tom's Racing Vesta (15x7, 38+, 4x100), those have a 5.5" backspacing which is about quarter inch more what the Cressy steelies would come up having after the rebarrel. Also, the width is .5" (12.5mm) more.
Assuming that, I can only picture the tires will still clear the rear spring seats and everything else. The wheels would look very decent if not perfect.
Is there anything that I'm overlooking?
I'm buying the adapters now. I'm going to rebarrel only on of the wheels for right now. That way if shit still fails, at least I didn't waste money on the other three *useless* rebarrels.
What you guys think? But small problem for the front. I think it'll be fine for the rear, though. The wheel sits further towards the cars' center in the rear than the front. What gives... Unequal POS...
most toyotas/fwd cars are like that. Not really sure why.
I put 10mm spacers on my back wheels to even them out.
once you put the car down on tires, it should add some camber and be fine. or you could just get some crash bolts or camber plates and pull the top of the wheel in a little.
looks like they fit nice

It'll clear from contacting the fender lip since my car is not lowered, I hope. But when I get coilovers, I may camber the front and match the rears with spacers and camber them as well. Or I even thought about getting two of the same wheels, if I ever find them, or just the barrels that will make +38 offset and do that only for the front and keep the rear as they are with that +1" lip. They do have +38 offsets for these wheels, I however got negs. Still nice

yeah... but if you go over a bump and compress the suspension near max it'll hit the fender pretty hard and probably bend the fender or cut your tire...

I hear ya. Come to think of it, I think the fender lip is still a bit dinged from that one day I had 17's on. Which rubbed the fender lip and wheel well covers behind the wheels when I turned.
I'll have to see. But the wheels are def being gotten.

I read that different offsets f/r will adversely affect handling. Have you had any problems?
