It's been a looong time since my last post in TN, but with my RX-7 in the body shop and then paint shop for a while, I've gone back to Toyota, this time my daily driver.
My goal is an alternate show car to my RX-7. I have a 1989 SR-5 (4af). great condition besides the usual worn stuff, like brakes and struts, etc. but only 106k miles.
I also have regained ownership of my brother's old 89 GT-S, although, the silvertop in it is blown (idiot ran out of oil... really now? don't check oil levels?). But that said, I have a readily available source of many many parts now
OK Anyways, one of the things I got from the donor car was a set of B&G lowering springs. I had seen a couple pictures of these springs on the sport coupe and I thought the car looked great. However, when I installed mine (albeit on new OEM-style struts, not performance yet), the stance is weird. It's supposed to be a level 1.6" drop to both front and back but the front is dipping down much lower, and this is causing some serious ground clearance issues.
How can I level the car back out? Do I just have to wait until I get some more money and buy different lowering springs (and if so, FS B&G drop springs! lol)? Could I try making some custom strut spacers in a machine shop? Ideas and advice appreciated!
sorry for the long post, but good to be back at TN. AE92 is not my area of expertise!
oh and pictures can be put up tomorrow, once sun is back out
