Working on a 1991 Corolla that only has 60k miles on it. The engine is cherry. I replaced the battery, plugs, plug wires, and alternator. The car won't start alone. If I jump it, it fires up just fine and runs, but when I put it into gear it will end up stalling. It isn't the starter.

Would it be an electrical connection I am missing somewhere?

Loose ground on the frame? I don't know but I would check all the connections and the starter connections also.

could be fuel pump, it sounds like it's spurting... could be injectors as well, check to see if the connections are good.

Also, could be a bad vacuum hose.

Get charging system checked out for free (advance/autozone). In spite of new alternator could have battery or other issues if you have to jump it.
