Fitting ignition "ring" around the dash trim?

Any tricks for this? I don't want to scratch the trim panel, mine is repainted black since it was really faded

If you mean that black, hard rubber ring that goes around the ignition cylinder, it actually pops off the ign cylinder. I never knew that either until I went to a junkyard, cared less about breaking the dash to get what I wanted (the instrument cluster), so yanked the trim panel and that black rubber ring just popped off. I was like "all this time, I've been using a screw driver to get the rubber thing where it should be when I put the trim back on, and THE BITCH JUST POPS OFF!"

I can provide pictures later.

But it just pops off. If you have the trim off already, you can use a small flathead and pry it off the ign cylinder.

Can try spraying silicone (with extension wand) between ring and ignition cylinder to help it pop off easier.
