7AFE swap into AE92

PLEZ Help....

I got a friend with a 91 Corolla auto with o/d. If I wanted to drop my old 7AFE auto with o/d from a 97 Corolla. What problems would I run into. I know I would need the ECU and harness for the 7AFE, but what about the motor mounts?? Can anyone help?

if your old engine is a 4af or 4afe (gen 1) then I believe engine mounts should bolt right in atleast for the sedan not sure for the sr5. no idea about the A/T O/D aswell

use your transmission thats already in the 91 and pull the head off the 4afe and put it on the 7afe, you can keep the stock wiring harness and ECU while getting a little boost in your CR. im about to do the exact same thing just with a 5 speed, and a build bottom end with my stock 4afe head.

you will not gain CR using a stock 7a block and a 4afe head.

If I remember correctly, someone on here put a 7A-FE into an AE92, and used the 4A-FE wiring and ECU.
I think all that was necessary was to swap a distributor from a late model 4A-FE.

The way he did it you loose the protection of the knock sensor, but it works.
Don't hold me to any of this, I am working with an old brain.

I think if you do a search you should find his thread.
It is a pretty old thread so you will need to do a lot of searching.

you would need to modify the exhaust due to the taller deck height.....

I've been running a smallport 4age on a (modded) 4afe ecu for years w/o a knock sensor....
