Silly question

I have a 90 corolla all-trac sedan with a 4afe under the hood, was wondering if it is possible to swap in a 4age in and bolt to the tranny thats in there now.

Yes, it is possible, with some grinding to part of the GE block. I know it's been done with the All-Trac wagons, but I'm sure the sedan is the same in the engine bay. Something I'm thinking about doing someday... I'd go with a 4AGZE though

Edited to add... you have something of a rarity among rarities there. All-Trac sedans aren't as common as the All-Trac/4WD wagons here in the USA. I think it's the same overseas. Would love to see a pic -- there seem to be at least two different body stylings to those sedans. Most obvious difference would be if the corner lights (next to the headlights) are curved upward (like the All-Trac/4WD wagons) or downward (like all other FWD sedans & wagons).

I'm not seeing the pics...

Grinding on the 4AGE block... something about the back of the block needing to clear the transfer case on the All-Trac/4WD. I think it's a rib or protrusion on the block that doesn't hurt it to have it removed. There's an Australian guy, Kebin, who put a 4AGZE into his 4WD wagon...

In the first post there is a link to his build thread on another forum (that you have to join to see).

Every time I see that GZE in the engine bay, I go...

personally id rebuild your 4afe. get a remaned head put a 7afe head gasket and after market fuel pump and regulator in it and slap a turbo on it an tune it to 6 to 7 psi and youll get a 4age ( in horse power atleast) it will be cheaper to do all that than to have to pay 1500 for a 4age from some online seller and to have to pay another 400 for a rebuild kit and then rebuilt it on top of it. i had a budy of min do a 4age swap he did the work himself and it cost him $2700 in parts alone not to mention machine shop labor to have the head surfaced and dipped. the 4afe is a good plat form for power you just have to know how to treat her.

Yeah, a friend of mine says the same basic thing. Honestly it's closer to what I would/will actually do, considering that I'm not well-off enough to be sinking $3k+ into an engine swap. Then there's the fact that I want to sink $3k+ into my del Sol engine build someday, and this wagon I had bought mostly for daily-driving, practical use. It's just kind of... slow

I've seen some 4AFTE topics around here... inspiring...

So the 7afe gasket will fit right on, or will there have to be some modifications done??

there were a couple of all trac sedans running around with 4AFE block/4AGE head hybrid motors, you could look into this instead.
