Gen6 How does the GTS 3point strut bar bolt to the firewall?

Hey guys just pulled a GTS strut tower bar from the junkyard, my SR5 has the firewall recesses for where the bar goes, but no holes drilled yet.

Is there a threaded insert or a stud sticking out? Forgot to look closely at how it bolts up. Also my strut tower bolts are 10mm and the GTS are 12mm will this make a difference? It bolts up fine, I was thinking I'll just use washers for the four strut tower bolts.

I searched but couldn't find this info...thanks

I had to walk 50ft to check for you!

The middle bolts in with, well, bolts. They thread into what I presume are threaded inserts. These aren't found on the sedan/SR5 and will have to be added or just use a nut on the other side.

The strut studs on my GTS are definitely not 12mm in diameter, nor do they look like 10mm. I believe they are 8mm which looks to be the same as my sedan.

Thanks for checking man, that's weird about the strut bolts...oh well. I'll jsut use a nut on the back like you suggested.

Edit I meant the nut not the bolt...haha

Yeah just fit the brace, trace around the holes for the firewall, remove the brace, drill the holes and then mount the brace again. I used the original painted bolts on my 7th Gen and used stainless steel Nylock nuts for the back. Just involves removing the wiper arms and lifting up the plastic cowling a bit. Then you just simply hold a spanner on the nut and tighten the bolt with a ratchet.

I am trying to do the same thing. I pulled a strut bar from a GTS and was trying to put it on my SR5.
What is this part? and what did you do with it?

Oh, I guess most people put the bar on fuel injected cars that don't have that. You can find a suitable location that all the hoses and wires still reach and just re-mount it there. Or even remount it on the bar possibly. Or, it looks like the bar may still fit there with some trimming of that bracket.

Looks like a couple of vacuum sensors to me... Unplug them, and if your car idles like a fat kid running a marathon... lol.
