need some help with alternator

Alright I have a 1991 toyota corolla le, 4afe motor bone stock... i keep going through batterys and im going to start by replacing my alternator because I keep having dimming lights and and keep the battery at a charged stat so im starting there. plus its the orginal that came with the car 20 years ago haha.

today i blew through (((((4))))) 100amp fuses for the alt.
thank god i live near a junk yard and was able to go and get all of them at one time and im happy i didnt just get one, i got 5.

The positive is in the directions to remain on the battery and disconnect neg- terminal. so i did that.....

im guessing that i got the wrong alternator, they thought it was a nippo or whatever but it turns out on the label is a denso straight from toyota.

so would that cause the blowing of the fuses?? the wrong alternator?
i redid the ground wires and everything.

i was at my parents house doing this sense i live in an apartment and i ended up calling it a day and putting the old alternator back in did everything that I had done the right way before and boom nothing was wrong no popping and smoking fuses or anything....

any hints on what happened on my wasted day?

It might! if you Put one with Too Much Power it might just blow it, UNLESS you touched the tool to ground when connecting it,! I did that and blew one out, if i were you i would take off the battery completely like undo it and put it on the floor!. also return that alternator and go to another store and get the right one! and if you could get them to check whats wrong with your car with the original alternator let them test it! i rememeber i changed my ORIGINAL starter for a stupid autozone one, i later found out it was the battery post -_- so its best to get the parts tested at the stores!

Before removing the old and putting in new I assume you disconnected both battery cables? IF not that would account for some blown fusible links . Otherwise you could have picked up a dud from the junkyard. I would recommend one from a reputatable supplier (napa) with a warranty.
