Gen6 Gage cluster swap

I have a 90 rolla and am looking at replacing the gages with some aftermarket blue ones. The thing is, the gages are for the 93 generation. Will the gages fit or will I have to do some cutting and pasting?

Don't think anyone has attempted that. Can you provide pictures of the gauges?

are you goin to replace the whole assembly? like the whole black piece and stuff? cause those are not close at all. The Rpms are not even available on the 90 corolla The fuel AND thermostat readings are all one giant sized gauge. and you would be missing the door open and other one... WHAT YOU SHOULD DO! is do what i did.! Install LED bulbs! you only need 3 194's! and Led's cost about $1.50 a pair shipped from EBAY! of course only the SMD ones. i did white and bam fucking beauriful and brighter. of course taking out the halogen bulb from the stock holder is hard. and putting the led presents a minimal challenge but it all works out! TRUST ME! it is better than Gay White Gauges.! and you can get bulbs of any color you want.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-Bul...Q5fAccessories

Those are the best! of course in the search bar. you can type in 194 smd [and whatever color you would like] This is Easier and cheaper!
Trust me! they light up like a dream!

Lightbulb

The DX cluster is like GR91 says, but not for an LE or SR5, which does have a tach, and separated fuel / temp gauges. LE cluster on the left, DX on the right:

I agree with changing over to LEDs instead of changing out the faces. Here's a company in the USA that makes all kinds of LEDs:

http://www.superbrightleds.com/cgi-b...ini-wedge.html

I've bought from them a few times, highly recommend them. But, do whatever floats your boat, or your sedan I'm just not sure if those gauge faces will fit a 6th gen.

My LE cluster lit up with LEDs (didn't go with colors but thought about it):

Superbrightleds.com has good LEDs, but theyre more expensive, plus it doesnt haave the SMD ones that are all straight up,, but I believe LEDs are best choice. plus only about 20 mintues to install. im sure with those Gauge faces, they have Neon strips or something, that you have to connect to a wire, led's just seem best.

Thanks for the help. I'll be sure to look up the light bulbs instead if that the cheaper way. But if I buy the LED's, will they still be able to dim if their too bright? I don't want them to be blinding me at night when I drive. That would be bad

Yeah, the dimmer knob still works on LEDs just as it does normally for the OEM filament bulbs.

Yeah the dimmer still works, But you wont need to turn it down! thats what i thought at first, but its not so bright that it will blind you! Its actually really great! But You HAVE to buy the ones like the link i posted from ebay, DO NOT get single SMD LED's they wont bright up that well, you have to get the ones that have 4 smd bulbs, (the 4 yellow things) cause those are the only ones that basically light up all around.

DO NOT USE SUPERBRIGHTLEDS.COM they sent me defective products both times I ordered from them, tested the faulty LEDs in several applications and they were defective. Also in one order they sent me blue instead of white.

their customer service is a joke, one of the worst companies I have ever used to purchase something online.

The LED's in the background are nice looking, but I did like the white/semi transparent gage. I will consider going with the lightbulbs if I find that the measurements of the gages dont match a 93

Ok. The cheapest and easiest thing to do. Go to your local junkyard. Pull off the gauges. Go to your corolla and see if they fit. You basically won't pay anything because I'm sure you'll be smart enough to wear cargo shorts and stick those in your pockets ) lol

As for superbrightled.com. I'm not to sure about them I wanted to order from them but the LEDs are a ridiculous price. Same things on eBay for a fourth of the cost. The only difference is shipping ! eBay uses economy air. Which takes around a month -_- but it's kinda worth it considering the price and quality is great! My whole corolla is LEDed. And none hve burned out or discolored ! Not even my LED foglights that got water in them with the bulb!! Just letting you know.
