key switch

ok so i got my car witohout a key switch. well, i got a car, that im getting parts off, and i need the key switch. it's bolted to the steering wheel, with a c clamp. one side is the bolts sticking out, one on the top and bottom, and the other side, is no bolt or any thing for me to grab onto. it's also got some rubber, or something over it. does anyone know how to get these off, without tearing the steering wheel or the lock or anything up? i got the key to the car and everything. im looking to get the part where you put the key in to start the car, off of, clamped onto the steering wheel column. it's not exactly a corolla either, it's a prizm, but pretty much tht esame. mines a 90 hatchback, and the one im getting it off of is a 92 sedan.
i been using a screwdriver in mine for a while, and i just get tired of locking my doors all the time and the igntion thing falling apart and me hunting down all the springs to start the car, and the other weird stuff that happens. like 100amp fuses blowing when the back of the thing with metal contacts, touches metal. lockign my doors all the time sucks, and my car can get stolen easy.
does anyone know how to get them key switches off? using bolt extractors? thanks.
