anyone know what this part is for? i'm pretty sure it came out of a 88 gts when we stripped the car, but i am not sure where it goes. i'm guessing under the dash but that's a mess currently... googled the part number nadas, same on toyodiy.

any help would be appreciated.. thanks

It might help to show the whole unit and possibly where it's located?

It only controls a/c functions such as compressor engagement and disengagement etc. Shouldn't have any effect on engine starting. Had mine unplugged while checking out evaporator and was able to start my engine.

thanks for the help. guess it's back to figuring out why i don't have crank if i hit the wires going to the starter i can get it to crank. i can hear the relays clicking when i turn the key switch. but something in between. guess i'll recheck the relays and fuses this weekend.

Don't know if you have a 5 speed but if so check the switch on clutch pedal for continuity. If auto try starting in neutral to check if that's an issue. The starter solenoid contacts are notorious for wearing down and causing intermittent no starts. Could also have corrosion on starter terminals. Can buy replacement solenoid contacts at toy dealer and fix inexpensively. Here is link on solenoid rebuild.

thanks, i started with the test probe from the starter and worked back into the car so far. from the harness going to the motor i can trigger the solenoid so it turn over. i can hear the clicks when i turn the switch, but it's something in between i think. either i'm missing something or one of the relays failed or the fuse blew when we had the wrong ignition switch. every time i've tried i did hold the clutch pedal in but i was thinking of shorting it to bypass it. does the ECU need to be bolted to the floor? it's currently floating while i'm still trying to figure this out. we're putting the 16V from a 88 GTS into a 90 wagon. pulled the whole body harness from the GTS and adapting it to the wagon. dash harness was swapped so i'm confused why it didn't work.

there is a continuity switch to disable starter function if the switch isn't pressed in. my 20V swap it's bypassed.
