Toyota coolant color

Hi, my 91 corolla has green coolant, but I can't seem to find a toyota dealer that has green antifreeze, they both tell me to get some green antifreeze from o reilly's. Did Toyota ever make green coolant, or only the red stuff?

The car was maintained by a toyota master mechanic who worked at home on the side, so maybe he cut costs by using prestone or something?

just put prestone in it.

toyota doesn't actually make coolant... it's probably just re-branded prestone to start with.

so the car came from the factory with red coolant?

No, Toyota didn't switch over to the red coolant until the late 90's or early 2000's. I do know that some dealerships carry the green coolant (ours does), but it's not 50/50 mix, so you'd have to mix it yourself.

Actually my 92 toyota pickup came brand new from the factory with the red coolant. So the switchover may have been sooner than the late 90s.

my 89 GTS had red wine in it... I think I changed it eventually.
