So I'm getting a c160. This place sells one and has a picture. The transmission sits on a skid and unless the skid is REALLY huge, I can't tell if thats really a transmission. It looks extremely short. Its so hard to find this transmission anywhere.

Can anyone refer me to any other japanese importers? I tried the JDM. But they don't sell just the transmission.

Yep, that's what a FWD transaxle looks like. I think the image you may be getting in your head is a RWD transmission which typically looks like a long cone shape.

Yep, that a 6spd.

They are hard to come by BY THEMSELVES.

If you can find local AE86 enthusiasts, they usually end up buying a 4AGE that would have FWD trans on them which they can't use. Simply find out who wants a blacktop, then find a blacktop with the 6spd on it. Then you two split the cost. Virtually what I did, kinda, I think. And you may be able to get it cheaper than $700.

Alright. Haven't done any front wheel drive transmission work. It will be my first. Might as well start with someone easy, like using an entirely different transmission and having to modify alot. Haha. jk. How do the clutch slaves detach? Haven't taken off of those off either.

I think the slave is only held on by two or three small bolts. Then it just comes right out.
