Shift Lever + Brakes Dont Work

I'm sure this is an easy one for you guys, so here goes. When my shift lever is in park i press the brakes to release it and move it to drive. When i press the brakes two things should happen: 1. My brake lights should turn on. and 2. The shift lever should be released.

In my case none of these are happenning. I'm clueless so any ideas will be highly appreciated.

I'm beginning to think the US made AE92s are the ones that have the safety brake switch. Mine doesn't have it, which is great. No point....

Yea, its def the switch thats right under the brake pedal, cant miss it.

AE92

Indeed, none of the Europese or South-African models have this feature on the automatic versions.
Just like that "clutch-to-start" switch wich we don't have over here.
