Question 4WD AE95 - Rear Suspension Drop Links??? Help!

Hi,
My first post here, (although I have dropped in for a look a few times over the years) and am hoping you guys may be able to help.

I have a 4WD Corolla AE95 (In London, UK), and it has failed it's MOT test on there being too much movement in the rear anti roll bar, which either needs the drop links replacing or new bushes fitted.

Trying to find the part on Ebay dealers brings up loads of links to the supposed correct part - like this

However, the actual part the mechanic showed me in the garage looks like this

Obviously two very different things. I am wondering if there is some confusion over what the part is, and/or what it is called.

Speaking to a Toyota dealer on the phone they can get me the part in from Belgium for £90+VAT each - the mechanic I saw today said this price was dubiously high, and doesn't think it can be the right part because of the high price. The price does seem a lot for the small linkage pictured.

Anyways, any help or advice that can be offered would be very greatfully accepted. We really love the car, and want to keep it running, especailly after finding out there are only around 50 left on the UK roads!

Those two parts serve basically the same function only the first one is for FWD (macpherson strut rear suspension) and your's is obviously for a live axled rear suspension. I would guess that it is possible to replace the rubber bushings which probably cause the looseness. Unfortunately the AWD corollas don't have as much parts support as the FWD. The bushings are pretty much universal, so you should be able to find something out there that will fit. You might even have to buy a end link kit that has a bolt and washer etc, but you'd just use the rubber bushings and maybe some washers. Here are some examples:

Welcome... another AE95 owner, nice I'm not sure what to say about the bushings you need.

Looking up my wagon, which might have different part numbers than you (being in the UK), I get this:

48706‑14010 - BUSH SUB-ASSY, REAR LATERAL CONTROL ROD
Cost, about $20

90385‑20001 - BUSH, NO.1(FOR REAR LATERAL CONTROL ROD)
Cost, about $2

90386‑20001 - BUSH, NO.2(FOR REAR LATERAL CONTROL ROD)
Cost, about $5

Assuming I'm looking at the right parts. It appears that the one end of the "control rod" (sway bar?) has two parts to make up one of the bushings, and a single bushing for the other end. There are of course some washers and bolts to use, but you shouldn't really need to replace those if yours are fine.

Hopefully someone else can chime in, as I may be off about the part numbers I pulled up. This is for the single rod that connects to both sides of the rear suspension. There are also two separate control arms, one on each side, for the rear...
