Blew engine

I've been gone from these forums for a while. I'm on F150forum.com now. However, today my dad's 92 supposedly blew up. All he told me was it made some clank clank sounds when he tried to start it coming home from work and it didn't start. He says there were no signs wrong?

Anyways,
We're driving up to Charlotte Pull-a-Part this weekend to pull an engine. I know I can pull any 4AFE from from Corollas (ae92), celicas, and prizms. What about engines from the ae101 series? What differs?

Any tools I should bring with me to the pull-a-part?

Thanks for the help guys. I'm actually pretty sad about this because I drove that Corolla all through HS and to see it die is kinda

When was the timing belt last changed? It may have snapped. If so, the 4A-FE is a non-interference engine, so there won't be any engine damage. Pull off the valve cover and see if the belt is still intact

Timing belt was changed ~15k miles ago. Just asked my dad and he said the timing belt isn't broken. I still don't get why the car would just not run all of a sudden.

~15miles ago too. The water pump went out and the tbelt was changed with it. I tried turning it over today, got a clacking sound and the car wouldn't start. I'm going to drop the oil pan here in a minute.

We pulled the pan. Diagnosed it to a bad rod. I'm looking for JDM engines now to replace it, 7AFE is outta question because it's a 3spd. JDM 4AFEs are just rare now.

Sidenote: Should I bother in selling the head? Is there a market for this stuff anymore? It was rebuilt ~20k miles ago and there should be paperwork, just have to find it.
