Is it possible to run a 4AGE in a 1988 Corolla SR5 with carbs instead of FI? I know it won't give the same output, but I am curious if it will work.

yes, but not with the stock 4A-F carb (at least not easily)

most people run side draft webbers or mikunis

you're still going to have to wire up the ignition and stuff though.

I'm running a fuel injected engine in my '89 SR5, it's not really that much more work...

You don't have to run carbs on it... you can swap it and leave it fuel injected... however you'd have to swap everything over, including the gas tank.
