Replacing Worn Automatic Shift Knob

i was wondering at all if its possible to replace the automatic shift knob on my corolla sr5 the problem is that there is an Overdrive button in the middle of my shift knob and since my overdrive is always on i was wondering if there was a way to have it so that my overdrive is always on an just replace the knob or do i need to run wires and put the switch somewhere else?
anyhelp is greatly appreciated

Well, you can change the knob, and it`s kinda easy! You have to put the gear stick in L, and you`ll find 2 philips screws, unscrew them, and after that it`s easy...Carefull, your OVERDRIVE button will be attached to the knob, just cut the wires for the overdrive, if they aren`t already cut, and take out the knot. Another thing is that they`re will be a spring, be carefull NOT to lose it!

when i cut the over drive wires can i connect the wires together so the overdrive will always remain on? because i never turn mine off at all or run a switch somewhere else?

Well, you can try to connect the 2 wires while having the key in the ignition and see if the overdrive is on or off. As i remember the when the wire are connected the overdrive is off, so if you want to have it on all the time, you just isolate the wires independently and put everything back in place.
but my opinion is to leave them connected to the original button, and activate the overdrive after reaching 30mp/h.
have a nice day
