Probably blew my engine

I think I blew my 4A-FTE after putting on the KKK K27 turbo and horsing it around when I got it emissions checked. Shit. Coolant will flow to the expansion tank and wont go back into the engine, sounds like the HG. Plus theres major stumble on revs at 3k, I guess the stock dizzy didnt work too well with the turbo.

Gotta think about something.... maybe swap it to a 4A-GE 20V

How much power did you get from the K27? My boss has a KKK turbo, or turbos, laying around, not sure if it's a K27.

Sad but true. Plan on boosting the 20v? Should make for fun.

Pull the head and replace the gasket with a 20v gasket or genuine 4agze gasket ( semi-metal). How much boost were you running when the gasket blew ? Was it tuned ?

Yeah, well changing the headgasket doesnt solve the other issues and I'm really not in the mood anymore to fool around with this. I need a car that will get me from A to B without me having to think if it will leave me half way there. Especially if I get hired in the next few weeks.

Maybe I'm just getting old (30), besides I do have the bike as my fun machine.

And I might get something better and faster if I get hired. Thing is, I think my corolla has pretty much reached the end as far as development goes... now its just to get it running and drive it. How would the 20V work with a transmission with a cable speedo, I assume it has a speed sensor for the ecu -> problems?

nope, you just pull the VSS sensor out and the cable drive from a C50/52 drops right in.

No I'm not swapping a transmission too. C52 is gonna do just fine. I'm just saying if the ECU would see an error code -> limp home mode if it doesnt have the VSS connected.

I think I get what ur saying. Ur using the 20v ecu and harness but retaining ur old trans right?. If u leave it unplugged it might read a code. Dont think it would be enough to run limp usually the ecu doesn't care how fast ur driving ( cops do ) but Best bet is to swap the old gear type one out of ur trans for the magnetic type for the 20v. They swap in and out. This would mean new gauges though.

Ahh.

Yeah, I dealt with that too, its not well documented. The AE92 cluster actually has a built in vss. The fuel injected ecus use it. Since I had a 4af, I didn't have it going to my ecu, so I spliced it off the wiring going to the cruise control (which I also don't have, but Toyota put the wiring there anyway). It's probably just as easy to take it right from the Speedo.
