89 Corolla driver headlight dim, shuts off on hi-beam

My driver headlight seems very dim and may not pass inspection. When on hi-beams, it shuts off, so only the passenger-side is lit.

I've read an unclear forum post about a mechanic grounding the headlamp wire to the radiator to fix this problem. Would this be the top wire on the three-plug setup?

Since it is off completely when you turn on your hi-beams, I'm guessing you need to replace the bulb/sealed beam unit.

Replace the bulbs for each side and that otta work...
