Australia Upgrade my engine

Hi guys,

I have just inherited a Toyota corolla 2 door coupe. Model EE90R-AGKS, engine 2E. I woudl like to know if i can upgrade to better performing engine with power steering capability.

Also can anyone help me with schmatics of the engine I don't even know what the starter motor looks like or where it is situated. can soemone please tell me where i can find a picture of the engien with items pointed out in it. i.e. starter motor, alternator, fuel filter , oil filter and carborator if it has one?

Welcome to Toyota Nation. You could upgrade to a 4A-F (1600cc carby) but I'm not sure how much work would be involved. If you wanted a real power upgrade you could swap in a 4A-GE, but there'd be a lot more work involved in that as you'd have to upgrade the fuel pump etc so that the fuel injection worked properly. As for the diagrams, I'd recommend buying a Haynes manual. You can get them for quite cheap secondhand, or you can buy them brand new from places such as Repco or SuperCheap Auto.

if you want something that would bolt right on is if you can get a hold of a jdm 5efe, 4efe or 4efte since you are coming from a 2e

Thanks for the info will look up those engines. Do any of these have more grunt and power. plus will i need a newer gear box?
