Will be purchasing all OEM from toyota
-cam seals
-clutch
-timing belt
-rear main seal
-tbelt tensioner
-2000 celica 6MT shifter

What other parts/seals should I replace while the motor is out? Will the sr5 fuel pump work?

you need power steering lines from a GT-S. The power steering pump is on the oposite side of the engine.

Is there a manual rack alternative to the PS rack? I think in Australia they had AE92s with manual racks...

yeah, but you have to replace the whole steering linkage. it's easier just to loop the power steering lines to convert to manual steering

I never replied to this, but thought I had. Anyways, what USA models had manual steering racks? And by steering linkage, do you mean from the steering column to the rack? I would think that was interchangeable.

I've considering just looping my PS lines like I did with my del Sol, but there are usually fewer turns lock-to-lock in a PS rack than with a manual rack (making it somewhat easier to turn the manual rack than a looped PS rack). Would also love a little more room in the engine bay, especially if going with a 4AGE swap someday like I hope to do.

As far as the rack goes, is it a PITA to remove from the car while the engine/drivetrain are still in place? I was under my wagon, checking for oil leaks after doing some work, and noticed two large openings in the body where the steering rack's tie rod ends come out. Those openings almost look large enough for the whole rack to slide through once a wheel was removed.

I've heard that one of the brackets is hard to get to.... you need to take the rear engine mount out?

Here is the site I got my info from about the steering rack conv.:
http://ae92corolla.com/?page_id=3

I think it would be easier to just loop the lines. and yes, the corolla's power rack is slow enough, I wouldn't want to swap it to the slower manual rack.

Removing the rack is a PITA with drivetrain in, i did it to replace my blown out rack. you have to remove the rear engine mount(which requires the motor to go up or cradle to go down) to get to the rack mounts which 4 bolts to the firewall. remove tie rod ends, and unbolt the steering shaft inside the car, and obviously the steering lines. Then it does slide out but only slides out through the passenger side. Removing and replacing the rack and high pressure line took me a whole day because of that mount, and i was using my shop, on a lift.

Yikes... thanks for the heads-up. I checked my FSM, and it shows the whole subframe coming off from under the engine (and keeping the engine supported from above or below I think).
