A/C and Radiator Part--help finding, please

OK, I have a 91 Toyota Corolla and we replaced the radiator last year. Afterwards, I realized the A/C doesn't kick on. The fans run, but the A/C part doesn't turn on and cool the air. I live in Arizona, and during the winter I don't need it.

Well, its summer and me and my wife have been carpooling, but we need to get this car running and the a/c working. There is a cable that goes across the top of the radiator. I took it to a friend of mine who is a mechanic and he said I needed a small plug that goes into a port on the bottom of the radiator and said it was simple screw in and he said I could do it myself. So that cable goes down the back of the radiator and plugs into the plug that you screw in at the bottom of the radiator.

The problem I have is that I have gone to five different auto part places and they have given me several different parts but they either aren't big enough on the threaded size or the connector that goes into the cable doesn't have the right connector.

Anyone heard of this? Have any ideas? Anywhere where to find it? My mechanic said it's supposedly a cheap part, but I just cannot find it.

thanks in advance everyone.

Not sure that the part you are referring to has any bearing on the a/c functioning. From description sounds like a threaded sensor that screws into radiator that controls a fan. Whatever the part you need your toy dealer should either have or be capable of special ordering the part.

The question I have is do you need the plug or the thermo switch or both?
